REF: AMWIK TO CONVENE LANDMARK “WOMEN IN MEDIA CONFERENCE 2026” TO ADDRESS GENDER EQUITY AND MEDIA SUSTAINABILITY
NAIROBI, KENYA. The Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) is proud to announce the Women in Media Conference 2026, scheduled for 23-24 April 2026 in Nairobi. Under the theme “Resilient Professionals, Sustainable Futures,” this unique gathering will bring together over 200 journalists, media owners, government officials, and industry stakeholders to create a more inclusive media landscape.
The conference comes at a crucial time as the East African media industry faces diverse challenges. While digital transformation has opened access to information, it has also created serious challenges that disproportionately impact women. These include technology-facilitated gender-based violence and difficult economic conditions.
Key Highlights of the Conference:
“This conference is not just an event but a crucial intervention, by moving beyond anecdotal evidence to build sustainability, we are ensuring that the future of media is digital, fact-based, and truly inclusive.” said Queenter Mbori, Executive Director of AMWIK.
The event will host notable speakers from the government, Diplomatic Community, UN Women, media stakeholders, CSOs, Development partners and other key stakeholders.
