AMWIK Partners With Nation SACCO To Empower Women In Media Through Financial Inclusion
For many women working in the media industry, passion often goes hand in hand with financial uncertainty. From irregular freelance income to the challenge of balancing career growth with long-term financial planning, building financial security can be just as demanding as reporting the next big story. Recognising these realities, the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) has partnered with Nation SACCO in a strategic collaboration aimed at strengthening financial inclusion and economic empowerment for women in media.

The partnership will give AMWIK members access to financial products designed with the needs of media professionals in mind. These include affordable savings plans, accessible credit facilities and investment solutions tailored to support women working in full-time employment, freelance journalism and other independent media roles.
Beyond providing financial products, the partnership places equal emphasis on financial knowledge. Members will participate in financial literacy and investment programmes through workshops, webinars and coaching sessions covering practical topics such as budgeting, debt management, investment planning, retirement savings and wealth creation. By combining access to financial services with financial education, the initiative seeks to equip women with the confidence and skills to make informed financial decisions while planning for their future.
The collaboration is also expected to open new opportunities for members to pursue personal and professional goals. Whether investing in further education, growing a business, purchasing assets or expanding investment portfolios, women in media will have greater access to financial support that enables them to achieve long-term economic stability.
Speaking on the partnership, AMWIK Executive Director Queenter Mbori said financial independence remains a critical pillar in enabling journalists to thrive both professionally and personally.
“Financial security is fundamental to independent and impactful journalism. Women in media often navigate dynamic and unpredictable career structures. Partnering with Nation SACCO provides our members with the practical financial tools, resources and literacy required to build sustainable wealth and secure their financial futures,” she said.
The partnership reflects AMWIK’s continued commitment to supporting women in media beyond professional development by addressing the economic challenges that many practitioners face throughout their careers. As the media landscape continues to evolve, initiatives that promote financial resilience are becoming increasingly important in ensuring that women journalists and media professionals can build sustainable careers while securing their financial future.
Through this collaboration, AMWIK and Nation SACCO are providing access to financial products and also investing in knowledge, confidence and opportunities that will help women in media thrive both inside and outside the newsroom.
