AMWIK Executive Director Queenter Mbori appointed to Global Cyber Safety Advisory Council

We are glad to announce that the AMWIK Executive Director, Queenter Mbori, has been appointed as a member of the Global Cyber Safety Advisory Council (GCSAC), a global initiative under Cyber Harassment Support (CHS) focusing on women’s digital safety and media.

The appointment recognises Queenter’s strategic leadership and experience in media and women’s digital safety, as well as her practical insight into emerging forms of technology-facilitated harm, including online harassment,digital violence and sextortion that to silence women journalists and practitioners

The GCSAC serves as a vital international collaborative space that brings together digital safety practitioners from different parts of the world to exchange knowledge, share experiences and strengthen responses to emerging online threats. The council provides a collaborative platform for experts working to promote safer digital environments, particularly for women and other groups disproportionately affected by online abuse.

Queenter’s appointment brings the experiences and perspectives of women in Kenya’s media sector to a global platform at a time when digital spaces have become increasingly important to journalism, public participation and advocacy.

Through her new role, she will contribute to global conversations on digital safety, sharing insights from her work in media and advocacy while engaging with other practitioners on emerging threats and possible solutions.

For  AMWIK,this role reinforces our longstanding commitment to creating safer and  more inclusive spaces for women in media both in Kenya and beyond. It also reflects the growing importance of connecting local experiences with global conversations on technology facilitated violence and digital safety.

Her appointment to the council highlights the pivotal role African women leaders play in shaping the global digital safety narrative.Her voice will ensure that the unique realities faced by women journalists in kenya and global south are reflected in international digital protection  frameworks.
