The Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) is proud to announce that our member, Lourdes Walusala, has been selected for the African Union Media Fellowship (AUMF) Cohort 3.0.
Lourdes’ selection is a significant achievement, as she emerged as one of only 22 fellows chosen from a highly competitive pool of over 100,000 applicants across the continent. Representing Kenya, she joins a diverse group of storytellers from 18 African countries dedicated to shaping a new narrative for the continent.
The AUMF is a flagship initiative of the African Union Commission designed to promote Agenda 2063. The program empowers journalists to move beyond traditional reporting toward solutions-driven journalism that bridges the gap between continental policy and local communities.
“The 22 Fellows embody the bold vision and excellence of a continent shaping its own narrative,” noted Wynne Musabayana, AU Head of Communication.
Over the next 16 months, Lourdes will engage in advanced professional development, cross-border collaboration, and high-level mentorship from industry leaders. The fellowship aims to strengthen media capacity in reframing perceptions of Africa and promoting digital and narrative sovereignty.
At AMWIK, we are thrilled to see Lourdes take her place on this continental stage. Her success is a reflection of the leadership and talent within our network. It reinforces our commitment to supporting women in media who use their voices to drive transparency, accountability, and development.
We congratulate Lourdes on this remarkable milestone. We look forward to the impactful stories she will tell as she represents both AMWIK and Kenya in this Pan-African journey.
