The Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) calls on all members, media practitioners, and well-wishers to support a critical medical appeal for Sophie Ikenye, a renowned journalist and cherished member of our media fraternity. Sophie, celebrated for her impactful work as a BBC World News anchor and former contributor to Kenyan media outlets, urgently needs our help.
Sophie has been undergoing intensive medical treatment for the past eight months in various facilities. Her family has made every effort to cover the costs but has now exhausted all available resources. They are appealing for financial assistance to raise KSh 5 million to facilitate her urgent surgery and ongoing treatment.
In a heartfelt statement, the family shared:
“As a family, we have done everything possible to support her medical care, but we have now exhausted all available funds. We are reaching out to her family, friends, fans, and well-wishers to help us raise KSh 5 million.”
