Ms. Judie is a multimedia journalist and a media trainer with over 15 years of experience in journalism. Judie is passionate about gender equality, public policy, healthcare, human rights, and transitional justice. She has extensive knowledge in global journalism, human rights and media development in East Africa.
In 2015 she was a fellow in the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Programme for Journalists (Washington DC) and a mentor in the U.S Embassy programme for Female Journalists.
She has also trained media for the professional development programme of the Graduate School of Media and Communications at the Aga Khan University in Nairobi, an international consultant with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on journalism training in South Sudan, consultant for Heinrich Böll Stiftung and U.S. Embassy Vernacular Journalists training and election training.
Judie has previously worked as the country coordinator (Kenya) and later as regional coordinator (East Africa) for Germany’s Wayamo Foundation, where she drove high-level human rights advocacy and transitional justice dialogues. Before that, she worked as a journalist and later as an associate editor for Capital FM. She currently chairs the Africa Check Foundation board in Kenya, a subsidiary of Africa Check Trust, Africa’s leading independent fact-checking organization. She regularly speaks on Kenya’s mainstream media about journalism and gender equality. Before joining AMWIK, she was a Gender and a Media trainer with Journalist for Human Rights (JHR).
Mark is a programs development specialist with over 10 years of experience in developing business blueprints, strategic planning and fundraising.
Mark is a graduate of Kenyatta University, University of London and Strathmore University.
Before joining AMWIK, Mark worked as the Country Manager for Nope Uganda before joining Capacity Africa Training Institute as a faculty member. He has also served in various other positions and his experience will be integral in helping AMWIK achieve its short term and long term strategic objectives.
Denis is a communications and media professional with over 8 years of cross-sector experience in supporting brands formulate and implement impactful corporate communication strategies.
Denis has a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and is currently working on his dissertation for a Master of Arts degree in Communication Studies- Development Communication.
He has worked with many brands in the NGO, private and public sectors in the realms of digital media, mass media, content creation, publishing and Public Relations.
His role will be vital in leveraging strategies to refine our messaging, engage our stakeholders and build brand awareness.
Gladys is a CPA (K) holds a Bachelor of Business Management (Finance & Banking option) from Moi University, she is a qualified accountant with more than 10 years of experience in Financial Management, Implementation of internal controls, Financial reporting, Donor funds & Grants management, Payroll management among others.
Her prior work experience includes working as an Accounts Assistant and Office Administrator having worked in organizations varying from private sector to NGOs where she was exposed to various financial management roles within the Finance Department. She has undertaken short courses in audit and taxation.
Lilian Museka draws from her personal experience when advocating for gender equality. Having passionately worked in the media for the last 16 years promoting the girl generation, she has worn several accolades in her storytelling both nationally and internationally.
Mercy is a holder of a Certificate in secretarial studies and computer packages. She keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes with an experience of 10 years as Administration assistance.
Dr. Jane has vast expertise and experience in the field of communications, gender and media. She is a former Executive Director of AMWIK (2007-2013) and the immediate former Vice-Chairperson. She is a lecturer at the communications department of the University of Nairobi and Daystar Universities. She holds a PhD from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Arts in Communications degree from Daystar University and a B.ED (Arts) from Moi University.
Rachel is a journalist with a carrier spanning over 12-years in the media. She is a seasoned editor, media trainer and public speaker who uses social media platforms to advocate for maternal health, gender equity, the safety of women journalists and amplifies their achievements.
She has a Bachelor of Communications degree in information systems from the United States International University (USIU), a Diploma in Leadership and Management from Strathmore University and a Certificate in Media Management from the University of Witwatersrand.
Venter has over 15 years of experience as a journalist and has worked in different fields in practice and training. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Journalism at the Kenya Methodist University where she specialized in Development Communication.
Jane Godia has over 20 years of experience as a journalist, editor, trainer, and is, Director at Women In News-Africa and a trustee at African Gender and Media Initiative (GEM) Trust. Jane has previously worked as a former Deputy Managing Editor at the Standard Group. She is a graduate of the University of Nairobi with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Gender and Development
Cylia is a communication practitioner with over 15 years of experience in communication strategy development, public and media relations and policy advocacy. She is the lead consultant at EKAR, a strategic communication agency. Cylia has a bachelor’s degree in Communications and PR from Moi University and is currently pursuing her Masters in Communication Studies from the Unites States International University (USIU)
Lilian Anyango is an experienced Communications Specialist in Research, Event Management, Administration, Public Relations and Media Relations.
