Prof. Nancy Booker appointed VP in African Journalism Educators’ Network
AMWIK member and Dean at the Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications (GSMC), Professor Nancy Booker, has been appointed as the Vice President of the African Journalism Educators’ Network (AJEN) for a term of two years.
The appointment was done during a round table gathering in Kigali, Rwanda, on August 28, 2023, where the formal establishment and adoption of the network constitution was conducted.
Professor Booker boasts an impressive career that spans academia, teaching, research, and media practice. With over 18 years of experience in teaching and academic administration, she specializes in areas such as broadcast journalism, multimedia storytelling, media management, and health communication. She has received leadership training at Harvard University and has numerous peer-reviewed publications in these fields. She is a regular contributor and commentator in the Kenyan media landscape and actively collaborates with various media organizations to enhance and professionalize media in East Africa.
Furthermore, she is a member of numerous professional and academic associations, and she currently holds positions as a board member of the East African Communication Association and as a commissioner with the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) Complaints Commission.
