CHRISTINE NGUKU CONFERRED OGW AWARD BY THE PRESIDENT
We wish to congratulate our member Christine Nguku on the conferment of an Order of Grand Warrior (OGW) by H.E. President William Ruto in recognition of her exemplary work in service to the nation through media. She was among the 483 persons who were awarded for their outstanding service to the nation in different capacities as part of the 59th Jamhuri Day celebrations.
Christine Nguku currently serves as the Assistant Director, in charge of Training and Curriculum Development at the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) and served as the Vice Chair of the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) in 2017. She is a seasoned journalist with more than 25 years of experience, a media and communication trainer and lecturer and a mentor to many.
Christine worked as a journalist and editor at KTN between 1991 and 2004. In 2005 she left the newsroom to become a founding Director of a local language radio station, Mbaitu FM, where she served until 2011. She progressed into academia as a journalism lecturer at Kenya Methodist University (KeMU), Nairobi Campus. Christine has been a career mentor and manager of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WANIFRA) Women In News (WIN) East Africa programme 2015-2018. She was Secretary to the Kenya Editors’ Guild (KEG) from 2017-2018.
She holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Warfare and Peace from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom.
