AMWIK CONDUCTS MEN TO MEN SENSITIZATION IN NYANZA AND WESTERN REGIONS
AMWIK in partnership with FEMNET under the men to men engagement project carried out sensitization training to diverse media professionals from the Nyanza and Western regions to build their capacity to help eliminate sexual harassment in media.

Sexual Harassment in media is a critical concern and a silent scandal that is majorly under-reported. The training which was a follow-up to a similar activity last year in Maanzoni sought to increase awareness and knowledge and enhance participants’ abilities to effectively participate in becoming ambassadors of change.
AMWIK Executive Director, Judie Kaberia took them through a draft media policy and highlighted that most media houses do not have sexual harassment policies as required by the Employment Act.
On the flip side, those with policies do not necessarily implement them, meaning their staff may not be aware of their existence.
“We should all be at the forefront of encouraging and fostering a conducive environment in the newsroom for our children and future generations.”– Judie Kaberia, ED, AMWIK
